BROOKLIN — Francis C. Parson of Brooklin passed away April 22, 2011, after a period of illness. Frank was born March 26, 1930, in Boston, Mass., the son of Kenneth B. G. Parson and Margaret Lyman Parson and was the youngest of six brothers. He grew up in Weston, Mass., and Brooklin.
He graduated from Harvard University in 1951, and subsequently spent two years in the United States Marine Corps. After spending a year with the New Haven Railroad, Frank joined IBM in 1954, where he had a long and successful career, retiring in 1987. After several years of consulting work, he moved to Brooklin in 1990 with his second wife, Katrina Rozendaal Parson. He quickly became involved in local activities and served for four terms (12 years) as a town selectman. He was an avid sailor and relished his retirement years on the coast of Maine. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina Rozendaal Parson; his brother, Stephen Pickering Parson, of Wenham, Mass.; three sons, Francis C. Parson Jr., Theodore Lyman Parson, and Kenneth B.G. Parson II; seven grandchildren, Elisabeth Hyde Parson Pavlofsky, Lydia Willard Parson Patry, Kenneth B. G. Parson III, Alexandra Hollander Parson, Theodore Lyman Parson Jr., Francesca Cabot Parson, and Alexander Taylor Parson; four great-grandchildren, Ava Elisabeth Patry, Jonathan Alexander Patry, Mason Hollander Patry and Tenley Parson Simmons Pavlofsky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his parents; four of his five brothers; and his first wife, Elisabeth Hollander Parson.
