TUCSON, ARIZ. — Florence Elizabeth Davis Kittredge, 98, of Tucson, Ariz., died peacefully Oct. 5, 2012, at Tucson Medical Center Hospice. Born Aug. 2, 1914, in Ellsworth, to William M. and Mabel (Giles) Davis, the oldest of five children.
A 1931 graduate of Ellsworth High School, she married Russell M. Kittredge in 1937. She retired from the Maine State Employment Security Commission in 1974 and spent many winters in Florida and summers at her family’s beloved camp on Beech Hill Pond, Otis. Since 2000 she was well cared for at Atria Campana del Rio Tucson in both independent and assisted living. She was a longstanding member of the First Congregational Church, Hancock County Extension Service, Maine State Employees Association, life member of the Order of Eastern Star, and an officer of the Cordelia Stanwood Bird Club.
This loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Russell; son, Charles; brother, William Davis; and sister, Rita Welch. She is survived by son, Dr. John Kittredge (Carol), Tucson; sisters, Annie P. Huggins, Bucksport and Sylvia D. Pierce (Harrison), North Stonington, Conn.; sister-in-law, Elsie R. Davis, Ellsworth; daughter-in-law, Donna B. Kittredge, Palmetto, Fla.; grandchildren, Crichton Kittredge (Brenda), San Francisco, Calif., Russa Langpap (Christian), Corvallis, Ore., Olivia Kittredge (Rebecca), Berkeley, Calif., Claramond Bisho (Nicholas), Lafayette, Calif,, Clive Kittredge (Jennifer), Santa Cruz, Calif., Jill Kittredge, Albuquerque, N.M., Suzanne Kittredge (Art Loya), Corrales, N.M.; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; numerous nieces, including special nieces, Sally Jordan and Jane Sterritt; nephews and cousins. She will be missed by many.
