Donald E. Ross

1/20/1926 – 6/28/2014

Donald E. Ross was a World War II veteran and proud of his service in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Bennington. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion and Disabled Veterans.

He died peacefully at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with his wife of 49 years, Laura Bowden Ross, by his side.

Both originally from Maine, they lived every summer at their favorite place, a home in Orland. He loved this time and looked forward to returning every year.

Donald had three children, Darlene, John Ross and Ellie Skarin; and three stepchildren, Thomas (Wendy) Carpenter, Dennis (Suzi) Carpenter, all of Verona Island, and Cindy (Russ) Aldrich of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., all of whom he loved dearly. He is survived by two sisters, one brother; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all brought great joy to his life.

Know when to pay your respects.
