Debbie Rose (Carter) Starbuck

Ellsworth

Debbie Rose (Carter) Starbuck, 63, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Dec. 4, 2021. She was born in Ellsworth on Oct. 28, 1958, to Norman and Patricia (Robinson) Carter. Debbie attended schools in Hancock and Bar Harbor and graduated from MDI High School in 1977.

Debbie met Benedict (Ben) Starbuck and they were married in October of 1978. Debbie worked many years in retail in both Maine and Maryland and at The Jackson Lab for over 30 years.

The greatest joy to Debbie was her son Benny Jr. Benny brought much happiness, adventure and pride to Debbie’s life. There is not one thing she wouldn’t have done for him.

Debbie enjoyed spending time with family and would make sure that she attended every party, game, concert, play and competition her son, nieces and nephews were involved in. Known as Nahnah by so many, she was proudly the loudest fan in the stands.

In addition to her husband, Ben, Debbie is survived by her mother, Patricia; her brother Ken (Brenda) Carter of Ellsworth; sisters, Claudia Carter of Rockland, Karen (Phillip) Stearns of Westbrook, Luann (Larry) Voisine of Ellsworth and Lori (Brent) Whitney of Surry; sister-in-law, Paula (Dick) Mattingly, of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Debbie was the light and the laughter at every gathering and was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Debbie was predeceased by her father in 2002 and by her son Benny Jr. in 2006.

A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Apostolic Church in Hancock. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations in Debbie’s memory to the SPCA of Hancock County and to the Maine chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where online condolences may be shared at www.bragdonkelley.com.
