FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. — David Gray Parrot of Fort Lauderdale Fla., sailed the final voyage in the early morning hours of Sept. 15, 2010, in Bangor. David was born April 16, 1945, in Boston, Mass., to Donald Gray Parrot and Margot Howell Parrot of Scarborough.
In 1981, David founded one of the world’s most respected maritime salvage firms, Titan Salvage, a worldwide salvage and wreck removal company headquartered in Pompano Beach, Fla. Prior to that, he was a highly respected and well accomplished yacht broker. David was a member of the Cruising Club of America, New York Yacht Club and International Salvors Union.
In addition to his parents, Don and Margot, David is survived by his wife, Penny Parrot; sons, Robert Hunter Parrot, Christopher Gage Parrot and Jody O’Brien; daughter, Laurie Beckmann; granddaughters, Keeli and Elle O’Brien; and grandsons, David, Chris and Jason Beckmann and Jeffrey Parrot; and a brother, Stephen Parrot.
A private remembrance was held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, in Hancock and a memorial service will be held in Fort Lauderdale at a later date. In lieu of flowers, David’s family asks that donations be made to Kids in Distress, 819 NE 26th St., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305.
