MILBRIDGE — David Allen Moores passed away peacefully April 8, 2012, after a long battle with cancer while residing at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility. He was born Sept. 15, 1937, the son of Ralph and Geraldine Moores of Trescott. He was raised by his foster parents, Colon “Deek” and Rena Church of Birch Harbor.
He is survived by a sister, Daphne Johnson of Orono; and a brother, Danny Moores of Sanford; and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind two sons, Randy Moores and his wife, Melanie, of Gouldsboro, and Shawn Moores and Chrissy Smith of Milbridge; his grandchildren, Katelin and her husband, Chris Cowperthwaite, Torre Newenham, Ally and Jacey Moores; and two great-grandchildren, Gaven and Kayden Cowperthwaite.
David was an SP4-E4 while serving in the Army in the Panama Canal from January of 1963 to December 1964. Upon returning home to Birch Harbor he started working for A.R. Whitten and Son of Winter Harbor until he retired in 2003.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at the Narraguagus Bay Health Facility for the wonderful care they showed over David while he resided with them.
He will be buried in the Birch Harbor Cemetery with his foster parents. Per David’s request there will be no funeral services.
