Darrell Lewis Gray, age 70, died after a long illness on Aug. 28, 2018, with his family by his side. He was the son of Harold L. Gray and Thelma (Eaton) Gray. He was born Sept. 17, 1947.
He was a 1965 graduate of George Stevens Academy. He earned his Masters License as a plumber and oil burner technician and had his own business, Blue Hill Plumbing and Heating, for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette (McVay) Gray, daughter Darlene (Gray) Hatch, son Darin L. Gray and wife, Jennifer, grandchildren Adam and Nicholas Hatch, Olivia and Darrell B. Gray and great-grandson Bryson Hatch, his sister Aubrey Gracefa, brother Dana L. Gray and sister-in-law Elizabeth, niece Angela Miller, nephew Andrew Gray, great-niece Lydia and great-nephew Quinn.
Darrell was predeceased by his parents Harold and Thelma Gray.
Darrell will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity and gentle approach to challenges. He will be missed and loved by all forever.
A celebration of his life and memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, at 1:15 p.m. at the Blue Hill Baptist Church with a reception immediately following at the Blue Hill Farm Inn, 578 Pleasant St., Rt. 15, Blue Hill.
