Damian R. Pickard

Franklin

Damian Robert Pickard, 41, of Franklin passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 22, 2020.

Damian worked one Maine season to the next, whether working on a lobster boat, brushing, clamming, cutting whippets or raking berries. He also did a little carpentry and painting. But his love of the outdoors kept him bound to the seasons. He was an extremely hard worker who took a lot of pride in his work. Damian was very caring and generous, especially when it came to his family. He always loved to lend a helping hand when one was needed.

To say Damian loved fishing would be an understatement; he had a passion for it. He loved the labor of working on a fishing boat, the tranquility of freshwater fishing and the excitement of sprinting across the ice to check his flag.

Damian is survived by his mother, Deborah Pickard, and stepfather Stacey Curtis of Lamoine; sons Cyrus Pickard and companion Emma of Hancock, Ryleigh of Bangor and Damian Jr. of Bucksport; brothers Robbie Wilbur of Ellsworth, Devin Pickard of Lamoine, Matthew Curtis and fiancée Audrae of Ellsworth and one sister, Anna Curtis of Lamoine; nieces and nephew Addison, Raya, Aubree and Jaxston; paternal grandmother Marie Dow of Franklin; maternal grandfather George Pickard Jr. of Franklin; step-grandmother Deborah Curtis of Brewer; and his cat that he loved dearly, Pear Bear.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert Dow, paternal grandfather William Dow, maternal grandmother Kay Pickard, step-grandfather Warren Curtis and very special aunts Trudy Pickard, Marlene Tracy and Judith Jellison.

Damian was not one to watch TV; he would rather dive into a good book. Because of his love of reading, please make a donation in his memory to the Franklin Library, P.O. Box 202 Franklin, ME 04634. The library held a very special place in his heart.

Services will be held at a later time.

Know when to pay your respects.
