Charles “Charlie” Franklin Brown Jr.

ELLSWORTH — Charles “Charlie” Franklin Brown Jr., 70, of Ellsworth passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2010. Charlie was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Ludlow, the son of Charles Franklin Brown and Bertha Evelyn (Young) Brown Sr.


Charlie loved the ocean, especially digging sandworms and bloodworms. Charlie was well known in all the worm shops across the state of Maine. He enjoyed fly fishing on the Narraguagus River, flounder fishing in Perry and his times clamming and hunting for duck and deer at his favorite spot, “Bois Bubert” Island, with his sons and close friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine Brown and partner, Drew Church, and his grandchildren, Lucas and Logan Church; his son, Christopher Brown; and grand dog Dipstick; his son, Charles “Bub” Brown and partner, Cheryl Grindle, grandchildren, Greg and Amanda Brown, and his great-granddaughter, Cassidy; his daughter, Twilla Manheim and husband, Steffen, and his grandchildren Michael, his wife, Sylvia, and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Mallory, Mighles, Meganne, Mckenzy and Matthew Manheim; his daughter, Shannon Boudreau and husband, Joe, grandchildren, Jennifer and Troy, and great-grandchildren, Christa, Jordyn and Brayden. He will also be sadly missed by Lila Brown; and best friends; David and Elsie Jellison; and his friends at Maple Lane. He was predeceased by his parents; by his son, Troy; and daughter, Kim; uncles, Buster and Edgar Brown and Patches. A special thanks to Dr. Richard A. His final resting place will be the ledges of “Bois Bubert.” His stories will be sadly missed, but will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Arrangements by Acadia Burial & Cremation Direct, 248 State St., Ellsworth.
