SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Cara Jane Nichols, 36, died unexpectedly March 9, 2010 at her home in Manset.
She was born Oct. 12, 1973, the daughter of Marie E. (Alley) Nichols and Jerry R. Nichols. Cara lived a troubled adult life of which she had many regrets; however, she never regretted nor could have been more proud of her children, Ian Richard Stanley of Southwest Harbor and Andrea Jane Eaton of Trenton.
In addition to her children, Cara is survived by sisters Jennifer A. Nichols and Jennifer’s partner Chris Farley of Hancock, and Christine L. Harding and her husband Dale of Town Hill and their children Brian, Meagan, Sean, and Holly. She is also survived by her aunt, Marcia (Alley) Skeate, of Columbia Falls; uncles Keith Alley of Rockland, Michael F. Nichols and Roger Wayne Nichols of Alabama, their wives, families, and many cousins.
Cara recently found her birth father, Jewell T. Akin of Oklahoma, who also survives her. She was predeceased by her mother, Marie, in July of 2003; and her father, Jerry, in August of 2006.
A memorial service and gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the Hancock Memorial Legion Post on Route 3 in Trenton from 2 to 4 p.m. Please bring your memories and a potluck dish to share. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Christine L. Harding, 14 Betsys Rd, Bar Harbor, to assist with memorial and burial expenses.
