BLUE HILL—Calvin E. Keefe Sr., 73, of Blue Hill died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Sedgwick, the son of the late F. Eldon and Cynthia (Hooper) Keefe.
Calvin attended George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, graduating in 1955. He was a licensed steam engineer for 35 years working for St. Regis Paper Co. in Bucksport, now known as Verso Paper, retiring in 2002. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and ice fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially with his grandchildren. Most recently he enjoyed photography of nature and family. Calvin was a member of the Ira Berry Lodge of Masons No. 128 of Blue Hill for many years.
Family members include his children, Clarissa Bucklin of Oregon, Calvin E. Keefe II and wife, Shari, of Brewer, Howard Keefe and wife, Sonya, of Blue Hill; five grandchildren, Laurel Bucklin of Oregon, Kendra Bruton and husband, William, of Orono, Michael Keefe of Brewer and Katherine and Ashley Keefe, both of Blue Hill; five siblings, Katherine Smith of Surry, Sylvia “Sue” Duffy and husband, Chan, of Blue Hill, Norman Keefe of Brooklin, Malissa Carter of Sedgwick and Stanley Keefe of Brunswick. He will be sadly missed by his cat, Kitty Kat.
A celebration of Calvin’s life will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
