STEUBEN—Belinda Jean Nichols, 57, of Steuben passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Belinda was born Sept. 22, 1952, the daughter of Lindsey and Virginia Perkins.
Belinda was employed at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital at the time of her death. B.J., as she was fondly referred to by her family, loved camping at Baxter State Park with her family and being at Pratt Lake with friends. She especially enjoyed photographing moose as well as other wildlife. She won three first place ribbons at the Blue Hill Fair for her photos. She loved her flower gardens. Her pride and joy was the bleeding heart bush from her father. Belinda also enjoyed kayaking with her husband, Bill, and family members while on camping trips. Belinda became an EMT after she met Bill and became a member of the Petit Manan Ambulance Corps of Milbridge.
Belinda is survived by her husband and soul mate, Bill; her mother, Virginia Perkins of Penobscot; her brothers, Newell and wife, Jan, of Texas, Kerry and wife, Barbara, of Benton, Mike of Hancock, and Scott of Penobscot; a sister, Ruth Anne Gott and husband, Robert, of Penobscot. Belinda has two sons, Rick and his wife, Laura and grandchildren, Carlyn, Gavin and Alex of Georgia and son, Daryl with his companion, Linda and grandchildren, Chloe and Alex of Florida. Belinda is also survived by several nieces, nephews; and one very special great-niece, Kai. Belinda was predeceased by her father, Lindsey; and a special mother-in-law, Helen Nichols. B.J. will be missed by her second family, the staff at MCMH, especially the second floor staff; and her close friends, Jerry and Brenda West and Leland and Lynda Beal. The family wishes to thank the staff at MCMH for the wonderful care Belinda received in her last days. We also wish to thank Petit Manan Ambulance for their excellent care during transporting.
