Armour was born July 3, 1934, at Medford, Maine. He attended schools mostly in Pittsfield, Maine, and graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1952.
He married Loretta J. Doherty in 1953 and they had a family of three children: David, Deidre and Dean.
At the age of 18, he joined the Air Force and spent 21 years as an air traffic controller. Among the places that he was stationed are England, Spain, Germany and Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart.
After retiring from the Air Force, Armour worked for the FAA for 20 years and retired at Ellsworth, where he enjoyed living on Branch Lake with his wife, Loretta.
He is the last of five siblings in his family, having four older sisters: Evelyn Goldberg, Eleanor Brennan, Ima Brown, and Carolyn Foster. He is survived by his wife, Loretta, daughter Deidre, son Dean, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Armour was a quiet man and will be missed by many family members and friends. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors on Dec. 17, 2015.
