CHERRYFIELD — Anthony Robert Jones, 77, of Cherryfield, died April 2, 2013, at the Sunrise Care Facility, Jonesport, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1935 but grew up in Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1958. He worked in Greenbelt, and Baltimore, Md., where most of his children were born, before moving to Bucks County, Pa., where he worked for the Philadelphia accounting firm of Main Lafrentz. In 1971, the family bought a farm in upstate New York, where he opened his own CPA firm in Plattsburgh, N.Y., later merging with Dragon Benware, upstate New York’s largest CPA firm. He retired in 1997. Andy was an enthusiastic Rotarian and received their Paul Harris Award.
He will be greatly missed by Alice Le Merle Jones, his wife of 56 years; and his remaining children, Susan Paradis, Machias, Sandra Baroody, Blue Hill, Shirley Baillargeon, Saranac Lake, N.Y., and his sons, Robert in New York and Patrick in Colorado; his grandchildren, Lt. Anthony Jones, Afghanistan, Caitlin Jordan, Holden, Alexander Yates, Kingman, Ariz., Caroline Yates, Blue Hill, and Hannah Jones, Prescott, Ariz. Also his six brothers and sisters, Dr. Edward Jones, William Jones, Elizabeth Miranda, Julie Edwards, Geraldine Jones and Ursula Jones-Morlock. He was predeceased by two brothers; one sister; and a son.
His memorial services will be held in Plattsburgh, N.Y., where he had so many dear friends and clients, but his family wishes to extend grateful thanks to all of the nurses and staff at Sunrise Care Facility who were there for him until the end.
