ELLSWORTH — On Thursday, May 20, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Margot Wells will present an online class titled “Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction: What It Is and Why You Should Know About It.” This free session will be presented on Zoom by the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center.
Wells will inform participants about the practice of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a groundbreaking and scientifically researched program that was developed by the University of Massachusetts Medical School. It is based on ancient mindfulness philosophies and practices, and modern science is proving that it can make profound changes in our bodies and minds, helping people living with a cancer diagnosis. Participants will engage in yogic breathing and simple seated movements followed by a meditation.
Wells is a breast cancer survivor who teaches the MBSR program. She completed her training through the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the Brown University School of Public Health.
