Woodlawn Lecture Series Ongoing



ELLSWORTH — Woodlawn is offering a summer lecture series.

Lectures are scheduled on Thursday afternoons at 4 on July 26 and Aug. 2, 9 and 23.

On Thursday, July 26, at 4 p.m., independent curator Laura Fecych Sprague will give a presentation on “Dining at Woodlawn in the 1830s:  Pottery and Porcelain Tablewares.”

On Thursday, Aug. 2, at 4 p.m., Val Libby will focus on the story behind women’s efforts to earn a living through gardening and farming in the 1900s in Europe and America.

On Thursday, Aug. 9, at 4 p.m., Walter Smalling will speak about his experience as a preservationist photographer.

Finally, on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m., Peter Rioux from Peter Rioux Clock Service in Winterport, will discuss antique clocks and how to care for them.

The series is free of charge, but donations are appreciated.
