Wildlife biologist to speak March 11

BLUE HILL — Blue Hill Heritage Trust will present a webinar titled “Protecting Maine’s Wildlife and Wild Places” on Thursday, March 11, at 4 p.m.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) has many roles in helping to preserve and conserve Maine’s wildlife. There are a variety of jobs and people who work for the department, including wardens, biologists, educators, administrative specialists, cartographers, animal keepers, policy specialists and more. Some work in offices across the state, and some get to spend time in the field.

The speaker will be Steve Dunham, MDIFW regional wildlife biologist for the Downeast region. Learn about the role regional biologists play and the type of work they do to preserve, conserve and promote Maine’s wildlife and wild places. Dunham will provide an overview of how different projects help to maintain healthy wildlife populations and habitats.
