VIDEO: 4th Features Zero Waste Event

BAR HARBOR  — For the second year in a row, the Mount Desert Island Rotary Club worked hard on July 4 to eliminate all waste from its Independence Day festivities including the blueberry pancake breakfast and the annual Lobster festival. All materials including paper, food waste and even flatware made out of potato starch were recycled or slated to be composted. Rotarian Becky Buyers-Basso, right explains the system the club used to reduce the festival’s impact on the environment. At right is Rotarian Rick Starbird.
