BAR HARBOR — Problems with poor quality of the broadcast of town board meetings on the local government channel were discussed by the town council on Tuesday. Technology coordinator Steve Cornell explained he was in the process of switching the DVD player that rebroadcasts meetings on the local cable television government access channel which should ease jittery images and lost signals. He also planned to upgrade the servers used to stream the meetings live on the Internet. At present, he explained, if more than 20 people try to access the broadcast at the same time they may experience technical problems.
At the suggestion of councilor Jane Disney, Mr. Cornell will put a survey on the town’s website for folks to report details of any poor reception problems they may be having.
Councilor Paul Paradis urged officials to take several less expensive steps first and see if that helped before committing to an upgrade plan that could cost thousands of dollars.
