ELLSWORTH — Georges River Trout Unlimited will host a Downeast Chapter meeting on Wednesday, April 17, at Pat’s Pizza in Ellsworth.
At 7 p.m., Evelyn King, founder of Maine Women Fly Fishers, will discuss the contributions women have made to fly fishing in Maine.
King, a registered Maine Guide and certified casting instructor, has been fly fishing since she was a teenager. She has volunteered for Maine Casting for Recovery retreats for over a decade in order to share her passion with others and encourage women to fly fish.
In 2014, she helped found the Sebago Trout Unlimited chapter’s Maine Women Flyfishers Group. The group has over 600 members and holds events throughout the year that are free and open to all women in Maine.
During the second part of her presentation, King will talk about her recent fishing trip to Patagonia.
Trout Unlimited is a nonprofit organization with a mission dedicated to conserve, protect and restore North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds.
A business meeting will begin at 5 p.m. on April 17 followed by conversation and a casual meal. The featured presentation begins at 7. A raffle will be held directly following the speaker. Meetings are free and open to the public.
