Trenton Board Hires New Assistant

TRENTON — The board of selectmen has hired John Brushwein, former town manager in Mount Desert, as the board’s new administrative assistant. In that role, he also will serve as town clerk, tax collector, registrar of voters and welfare director.

Board chairman Jim Cameron said Mr. Brushwein would start Dec. 14.

He will succeed Janet Muise, who has been town clerk for 38 years and the board’s administrative assistant for 14. Mr. Cameron said Ms. Muise would stay on to bring Mr. Brushwein up to speed and to handle certain duties until he obtains the required state certifications.
