TRENTON — The incoming and outgoing administrative assistant to the board of selectman, who also serves as town clerk and tax collector, might overlap by six months.
John Brushwein, who the board has hired as the new administrative assistant, starts work Dec. 14. Janet Muise, the town clerk for 38 years and administrative assistant since 1995, said recently that she plans to continue working full time until next June.
Board chairman Jim Cameron said Saturday that the board and Ms. Muise have set no specific date for her retirement. But he said they have agreed that she will stay on as long as needed to help Mr. Brushwein settle in to the various aspects of the job, which includes duties as registrar of voters and welfare director.
“If she (Ms. Muise) gave the date of June, then I probably would stick with that for now,” Mr. Cameron said. “I think that with John’s experience, he certainly ought to be up to speed by then.”
