Time Change May Ease Route 1A Traffic Backups

ELLSWORTH — Daylight-saving time, which occurs Sunday, may ease late afternoon traffic slowdowns caused by construction on Route 1A.

The Maine Department of Transportation is reconstructing six miles of Route 1A from old Red Bridge Road to the Union River Bridge.

Dale Mayo, project superintendent for the Maine Department of Transportation, said the work stops once it gets dark.

Once daylight-saving time is in effect, the sun will go down by 4:30.
