SOUTHWEST HARBOR — After a long winter and recent cold months, it is spring at last. With a promise of summer to come, the Southwest Harbor Public Library announces that its time-honored biennial garden tour will take place on Sunday, July 26. This 10th tour proudly celebrates 20 years during which the library has been opening private gardens on the west side of the island for the pleasure of the public on a summer day. Strong support for the tours has provided much-needed funds for the library’s operating budget over many years.
In addition to the gardens, some of the homes will be open for tours as well this year. A spokesman said patrons will find some wonderful surprises tucked behind the selected cottages and historic houses, which are along the shore from Southwest Harbor to Manset, to Bass Harbor and up to West Tremont.
Tickets are on sale now at the library for the special price of $20. On tour day tickets will be $25. Call the Southwest Harbor Public Library for credit card sales at 244-7065, or send checks to P.O. Box 157, Southwest Harbor ME 04679.
