Teacher to Speak on Uganda Experiences

LAMOINE — After teaching for six weeks in Gulu, Uganda, as part of a teacher exchange program with Invisible Children, Mandie Victor will give a presentation of her experiences at the Lamoine Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m.

Victor is a former teacher at Orland Consolidated School and Brooksville Elementary School. Two years ago she moved to Pueblo, Colo., to continue her teaching career. She was chosen as Maine Holocaust Educator of the Year by the Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine for 2003 and was selected for the Mendel Teacher Fellowship Program in 2007.

Victor is the daughter of the Rev. James and Pat Robertson of Orland, formerly of Penobscot.
