BLUE HILL — Brooklin landscape designer Julie Wang will give a slide presentation at the Blue Hill Public Library on Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m. about potagers (traditional kitchen gardens), both around the world and here in Maine.
Wang will show potagers that she has designed and worked on, along with others from around the world, and will also talk about healthy combinations of plants and flowers.
An adjunct professor of writing at New York University, Wang holds a master’s certificate in landscape design from Radcliffe College.
Comedian, writer and Brooklin summer resident John Hodgman will read from his recent book, “Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches,” at the library on Tuesday, May 29, at 7 p.m.
In the book, which will be newly released in paperback, Hodgman wanders “the hills of western Massachusetts where he spent much of his youth; the painful beaches of Maine that want to kill him (and someday will); and the metaphoric haunted forest of middle age that connects them.”
For more information on either of these events, call the library at 374-5515.
