Talk on co-ops set for Oct. 10

BLUE HILL — A look at worker-owned co-ops is the focus of a talk on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Blue Hill Public Library.

Rob Brown of the Cooperative Development Institute, who worked with the owners and workers to convert longstanding businesses into a worker co-op in Deer Isle/Stonington, will speak about the process of setting it up and his ongoing work to ensure its success.

He will be accompanied by Island Employee Cooperative President Alan White, who will give a worker’s-eye view of this development.

The program is being hosted by the Alliance for Democracy Downeast. There will be refreshments and discussion after the talk.
