SURRY — The Surry Garden Club is holding a Mystery Night on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. at Rural Hall.
Come and hear about the mysteries surrounding plant-derived poisons throughout history, both fact and fiction. Find out which plants have been used as poisons. Bring along questions about your favorite Agatha Christie poison. Find out what the mysterious “Purple Poison” used in “The Game of Thrones” might be and learn about an actual poison garden.
The presentation will discuss not only the chemical nature of the poisons, but also why they are toxic. There will also be a brief discussion of plants that are toxic to pets.
The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will follow the presentation.
