Star Struck Volunteers Sought

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — You don’t have to be a professional astronomer to volunteer for the Acadia Night Sky Festival.

While the park seeks more skilled astronomers to help with operating telescopes at any of the three star parties or two solar viewings, the park and Friends of Acadia also are seeking volunteers to help by impersonating a planet, staffing information tables, and assisting with traffic and crowd control.

The third annual Acadia Night Sky Festival is set for Thursday through Monday, Sept.22 to 26. This community celebration is designed to promote the protection and enjoyment of Down East and Acadia’s night sky as a valuable natural resource through education, science and the arts.
