RSU 25 Board Sets Lunch Prices

BUCKSPORT — Regional School Unit 25 Board members voted Tuesday to hold the line on student lunch and breakfast prices this year despite warnings that doing so would result in a large deficit in the program.

Superintendent Jim Boothby said the school lunch program has always lost money and that increasing prices to $2.50 for lunch — the maximum price allowable by law — and $1 for breakfast would curb losses.

Several board members opposed increasing prices again this year, citing the poor economy.
