Rolled Truck

BAR HARBOR — Philip Sanborn is no longer employed by the town’s highway department.

The driver of a 12-yard capacity plow and dump truck that overturned on a spoil pile in October 2009 reached a separation agreement with the town in December 2009. The records of the driver have been sealed as part of the agreement, and department of public works officials agreed not to release any information on, or discuss, the matter. The October accident totaled the 2002 truck, necessitating the purchase of a new one, at a cost of $140,000. The town’s insurer paid $48,500 toward the replacement.
