Rain Barrels For Sale

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District is once again selling rain barrels.

A rain barrel collects and stores rain water during the summer months for later use for watering container plants, flower gardens and vegetable gardens.

Rain barrels help to conserve well or municipal water, saving the homeowner an average of 1,300 gallons of water per year.

The 60-gallon recycled food grade barrels are easy to use and set up. They have a removable intake screen to help keep debris and mosquitoes out and can be connected to garden hoses, soaker hoses or drip irrigation.

Orders are due to the district office by Friday, April 3.

Each rain barrel costs $95 plus tax.

Orders will be available for pick-up on May 2.
