ELLSWORTH — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Office in Hancock County will be offering several opportunities to learn about preserving garden vegetables.
The hands-on “Preserving the Harvest” workshops will teach participants the basic steps to success for canning with either a pressure canner or hot water bath, as well as drying and freezing methods.
Workshops will be offered on the following dates:
- Monday, Aug. 24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topic: Pressure Canning.
- Thursday, Aug. 27, 3 to 5 p.m. Topic: Freezing and Drying Your Harvest.
- Saturday, Aug. 29, 9 to 11 a.m. Topic: Freezing and Drying Your Harvest.
The cost for each workshop is $5.
The workshops will be held at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Office, 63 Boggy Brook Road in Ellsworth.
Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 10.
