‘Preferred Future’ Forum Set

MOUNT DESERT — The town’s newly formed revitalization advisory committee will host a public forum next week to seek citizen input on “the preferred future of Mount Desert.”

The forum is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor.

The eight revitalization panel members – four year-round residents and four members of the Summer Residents Association – want to hear ideas for increasing the year-round vitality of the community, according to committee co-chairmen Kathy Branch and Lanie Lincoln.

They said the group subscribes to the spirit of the physicians’ oath to “do no harm.”

“We want to hear from residents of the several villages of Mount Desert as much about what they don’t want to happen to their villages as about a future they prefer,” Ms. Branch said.
