Pot Dealer Gets Jail

ELLSWORTH — A Tremont man will spend six months in jail under a plea agreement made in connection with two arrests this year for selling marijuana.

James Moore, 54, was sentenced to three years in prison, with all but six months suspended after pleading guilty Tuesday in Hancock County Superior Court to drug trafficking charges. Mr. Moore also will forfeit a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer, a 2007 Buell motorcycle, guns, video surveillance equipment and almost $12,000 cash seized during searches of his home.

Mr. Moore was charged with aggravated trafficking of marijuana in February, after agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency executed a search warrant at his home on the Burnt Hill Road and seized 12 pounds of the drug. They also seized the Mercury, the motorcycle, two handguns, a rifle and $4,100 cash.
