BLUE HILL — The public is invited to participate in the Blue Hill Public Library Play Reading Group on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the library.
This month the group will read “The Rainmaker,” by N. Richard Nash, written in the early ’50s and made into a 1956 film starring Burt Lancaster and Katharine Hepburn.
The play is about a woman who lives in a small rural town with her father and brothers and is desperate for a husband. She falls for a conman who promises the drought-ridden town rain in exchange for $100.
The group welcomes inexperienced and experienced readers alike.
