BAR HARBOR — The question of how, and how often, cruise ship tenders should be able to use the town pier likely will be taken up by the town council early next month, following a decision of the cruise ship task force (CSTF) July 9.
The 13-member committee tabled discussion of the best way to redirect traffic and parking at the pier to accommodate cruise ship passengers until the committee gets clarification from the town council on how often the pier will be used.
“We just didn’t know where to start,” CSTF chairman and town councilor Paul Paradis said following the meeting.
Cruise ship tenders currently do not use the town pier. Instead, they drop passengers at the adjacent, privately owned, pier at Harbor Place.
