SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The Salty Dog Gallery on Main Street in Southwest Harbor will be hosting its last opening reception of the 2010 season on Thursday, Sept. 16th from 5 to 7 p.m.

The featured artists are Michael Kahn, James Cordes and Eric Steel.

Mr. Kahn’s photos focus on the ocean and classic sailing yachts. He travels the globe and hand-prints his images using a process he developed to create warm-toned black-and-white images, like the one above. His work has appeared in publications including National Geographic, Architectural Digest, and Sailing World.

Mr. Cordes has freelanced for National Geographic, Time, and Fortune magazines covering stories such as industrial development in Asia and Three Mile Island and operated a large format studio. Some of his work features Mount Desert Island.

Mr. Steel, son of gallery owner Philip Steel and a resident of Southwest Harbor, began his photography at a young age, had his own photography studio and now shoots mostly nature, landscapes and people.
