Park Clean-up Day Set

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — Friends of Acadia will host its annual Take Pride in Acadia Day on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year’s event is sponsored by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, The First, and The Knowles Company. Volunteers are needed to clean out drainage ways and help prepare Acadia’s 44 miles of historic carriage roads for winter. This effort contributes valuable assistance to the park, reducing carriage road erosion from the rains, ice, and thaws during winter and spring, a park spokesman said.

Participants should arrive with gloves, a rake, and water. All volunteers will receive a free Take Pride in Acadia T-shirt.

A free lunch of chili, cornbread, and cider will follow the morning’s work. During lunch, participants in this year’s Acadia Quest program will be honored, and a grand prize drawing will take place.

Registration is required. Contact Terry Begley at 288-3340 or send an e-mail to [email protected].
