Open House Set at Ellsworth High Greenhouse

ELLSWORTH — On Monday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., Ellsworth High School will be hosting an open house for its new greenhouse.

The result of a partnership between the high school and the Ellsworth Garden Club, the new greenhouse located at the back of the school will be the centerpiece in a larger initiative funded earlier this year by the Maine Community Foundation and titled “Food for Life and Learning.”

The objective is to facilitate opportunities for students to connect with gardening, horticulture and agriculture not only through the school’s extracurricular garden club, but also across the curriculum through a variety of academic subjects.

Tours of the greenhouse will begin at 5. Refreshments and presentations will be in the school cafeteria beginning at 5:30. The public is invited to attend.
