MOUNT DESERT — The Mount Desert Nursery School will host fund-raising events including a Spring Fashion Show featuring children’s clothing at the Northeast Harbor Neighborhood House on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m. to view the latest fashions modeled by local youngsters.
The event will feature clothing from Hatched on MDI in Southwest Harbor, Cadillac Mountain Sports, Cool as a Moose and Stone Soup all of Bar Harbor, LL Bean in Freeport, and Ruth Fosters of Ellsworth.
Tickets are $15 per person, which includes drinks and home-baked treats. A silent auction also will take place. The feature item is an original oil painting by local artist, Walter Dunton.
The Mount Desert Nursery School funds its operating expenses from endowment income, tuition, fund-raising, and donations. It recently took a more specialized approach to the fund-raising effort and hired a person to create a professional fund-raising plan and implement it. The result has been a stronger link to our surrounding community, increased public image and less frequent small-scale fund-raising efforts.
All proceeds from the fashion show will benefit the Mount Desert Nursery School.
