Nonalcoholic Oktoberfest offered

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Acadia Family Center will provide nonalcoholic drinks this Saturday, Oct. 11, at the 5th Annual Oktoberfest in Southwest Harbor. Representatives from Acadia Family Center will offer hot coffee, tea, cocoa and sweet treats from noon to 4 p.m. so that everyone can enjoy the family-friendly event even if they prefer to remain alcohol free.

“We want everyone to enjoy Oktoberfest,” said Dr. Daniel Johnson, executive director of Acadia Family Center. “It’s important to know that drugs or alcohol are not necessary to have a good time, and giving people nonalcoholic choices supports those who do not use alcohol or who are in recovery from it.”

Acadia Family Center provides prevention, education and outpatient treatment for people affected by substance abuse, chemical dependency and related mental health disorders and has been serving MDI, the outer islands and the surrounding communities for over 35 years.
