Nominations Soughts for 2011 Peace Award

BAR HARBORNominations are sought for the 2011 Peace Award to honor a high school senior from Mount Desert Island who has sown the seeds of peace.

This award seeks to recognize a student who creates an inclusive and community-oriented atmosphere, facilitates conflict resolution, or works to remove the causes of injustice.

The winner of the Peace Award will receive a certificate, a $400 cash stipend and a year’s subscription to YES! magazine. Acadia Friends (Quaker) Meeting has been granting this award since 2001. In 2010, the
Peace Award went to Joseph Pierce of Seal Cove.

Students, teachers, or community members may nominate a home-schooled or high school senior for the award.
