News of Neighbors

I recently received a lovely note from Sullivan resident Sylvia Noyes, who, along with her husband, George Noyes, is also a member of the Franklin Methodist Church. She was thrilled to share with me that during February, the Franklin Methodist Church commemorated Black History Month with readings from African-American Methodist preachers Mrs. Jenna Lee and Mrs. Zilpha Elaw. Both women traveled thousands of miles throughout the Atlantic states and Scotland, respectively, delivering sermons. I am also confident that choir director Ruth Torrey made certain that there were spiritual hymns as part of honoring Black History month.

The kindergarten class at Mountain View is under construction! They are building the annual milk jug igloo with Principal Bill Dove. This is a project that Mr. Dove takes on each year with the current kindergarten class, and is among many projects he does with the kids. This year’s igloo seems to be larger than usual, and we are in need of more milk jugs. If you have clean uncrushed milk jugs, please, before spring is here, help the kids finish their igloo and contact Mr. Dove to find out how you can drop them off at 422-3200.
