ELLSWORTH — While students have settled into half of the new Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School, crews are hard at work on the rest of the building.

The two new elementary wings, library and elementary gym are scheduled to be finished by July 1. Contractor JCN Construction will turn the building over to the school district at that time. The project, which involves renovation and expansion of the existing middle school, began in July 2008.
“The majority of the work left is Sheetrock, tape and paint, which is already done on the second floor,” said JCN Job Superintendent John Famolare. “After that, it’s lighting and flooring.”
The two-story wing will house students in first through fifth grade. The parallel one-story wing will be used for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classrooms.
