New prostate cancer support group formed

MACHIAS — The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center is offering a new prostate cancer support group in Machias.

This free monthly meeting is open to men diagnosed with prostate cancer, survivors, their spouses, partners and caregivers. Regular meetings will be held 1-2:30 p.m. the third Friday of each month at the Maine Veterans Home Machias, 32 Veterans Way, which is off Route 1A near the Machias Memorial High School.

This peer-to-peer group offers support to those moving through the healing process with the help of others who have experienced similar things.

The facilitator will be Jeff Scott, M. Ed., an experienced mental health counselor, group facilitator and prostate cancer survivor. He is currently a member of the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer.

The next meeting will be held on Nov. 21. For more information or to register, call 664-0339 or visit www.bethwrightcancercenter.org.
