New Flu Doses Arrive

BAR HARBOR — A second round of H1N1 “swine” flu vaccine clinics are under way in the Mount Desert Island Regional School System (MDI RSS), following the arrival of 300 doses of the vaccine.

Between 70 to 80 students at Mount Desert Island High School are set to receive inoculations this Friday, Nov. 20, said MDI RSS health coordinator Maria Donahue. Other schools in the district were in the process Tuesday of scheduling their clinics. Parents are asked to call schools with questions or seek out information at school websites.

Once the latest 300 doses of vaccine are distributed, nearly 750 MDI RSS students will have been inoculated, representing just under 50 percent of the district’s 1,605 students. All students who returned signed permission slips to receive the vaccine should have done so by the end of the current clinics, Ms. Donahue said.
