Neighborhood Gets Historic Designation

BAR HARBOR — A 20-acre neighborhood just outside of downtown recently was entered into the National Register of Historic Places.

The Harbor Lane-Eden Street Historic District, an oceanfront neighborhood lying between West Street and College of the Atlantic, is recognized for containing one of the last concentration of architect-designed summer cottages in Bar Harbor. Nine major cottages, from 10 estates, that were constructed between 1879 and 1936 are recognized in the neighborhood.
