Nature Walks on Tap

MOUNT DESERT — Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) is offering a series of late winter/early spring, Thursday afternoon nature walks at its Babson Creek Preserve in Somesville.

These brief trips will be casual explorations of the 35-acre preserve’s woods, fields and saltmarsh looking for signs of changing seasons, tracks, birds, winter tree buds, and whatever people are interested in.

The walks will be from 3 to 4 p.m. on March 11, 18, 25 and April 1 and 8.

Meet at the trailhead parking lot at the first curve of the MDI office driveway just north of the Somesville One Stop gas station, on the east (same) side of the road, across from the MCHT Stewardship Barn. Bring binoculars and hand magnifying lenses if you have them.

For more information contact Billy Helprin, MCHT regional steward, at 244-5100 or [email protected].
