A moment of silence was observed in honor of students Richard Coakley and Matthew Felton, who died in a Stockton Springs car accident in September 2008. They would have been members of the Class of 2010.

The academy’s 67th graduating class included four Associate in Science, 187 Bachelor of Science and 14 Master of Science degree candidates. Graduates represented nearly 80 Maine communities, 19 other states, Puerto Rico, China, Jamaica, Kenya, Kuwait and South Africa.

Honorary degrees were awarded to commencement speaker U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud (D-Maine) and Frederick J. Harris, a member of MMA’s Class of 1967 and president of General Dynamics NASSCO and vice president of General Dynamics Corp.
